Fourth Exam Today...

Almost finished! I'm heading off to the gym soon to wake me up, a ritual I've maintained for all my exams, but one (Saturday's). The only thing is this exam is in the morning...so right now it's 7:33am. Today's exams is "Fundamental Human Biology", and I'm feeling alright. I think it'll fly pass, because it's only 2 hours, as opposed to the others which have been 3. Bones, cells, organs, enzymes....bring it on! xoxox

*Photos Finally Up!*
Sunny Sunday

When I peered out of my curtains this morning, the sun was making a legitimate attempt to shine. Unlike yesterday when it was just cloudy and muggy, today turned out to be warm, dry and sunny. This being Sunday, Ed knows that our family tradition is to have pancakes for Sunday lunch. I phoned Mum for the recipe (I left it at home), and we walked to the campus shop to get the essentials. Ed's brilliant idea was to have it with...Ben & Jerry's ice cream. (Only a boy! :P) Plus, we couldn't get a hold of the fake (but still nice) maple syrup, so we settled on strawberry. It still turned out great, and we both enjoyed it thoroughly.
After doing the washingup, and Ed had packed his things (he headed back home today :( ) we wandered out to the field and lizzarded (lay in the sun), observing people playing on the field, and one dude fighting with his big Kahuna kite.
It was a nice way to spend a Sunday, but there are clouds closing in now, so I'm glad we got the sun while we did!

Third Exam Today...

Today, at 7:30am, my alarm went off. By 8:30am I was showered, dressed and in the kitchen making my brekkie. Because the kettle wouldn't boil (grr), my pot of tea was made using the scalding hot water from the tap. By 9:15, Dave and I left the flat, picked up Ben, and at 9:32am...I was writing my 3rd exam. On the menu today was 'Introduction to Social Anthropology'. Again, there were good questions on the paper, so I used almost the full 3 hours writing and re-reading.
My next is on Tuesday, when I'll be testing my biological knowledge...:S

Ps: Ma, and Padre, can you make sure to tape Dr. Who tonight, please? The common room is closed. Thanks!

The Prairie Home Companion

Today, after I got home form the gym and buying milk, I decided to have a look online for the radio programmes I associate with making pancakes on a Sunday after church: The Prairie Home Companion, and The Vinyl Cafe. I have images of my whole family still dressed in our Sunday clothes. Sun streaming into the diningroom onto the blue carpet where Bonnie is sunsoaking (when she's not mooching by Mum). Dad has poured sherries for himself and my Mum, and he's sitting in the diningroom doorway leading to the kicthen on our old step stool, and Mum has the cupboard door open with the recipe for the pancakes on it, even though she doesn't really need it. The smell of pancakes cooking on Aunt Jesse Lapworth's pan that's only used for making pancakes and grilled cheese. The pan where the places for the pancakes have been marked over time, showing where hundreds of thousands of those pancakes have been made on it: four sillouets, one in each courner, and a little one in the middle, so we could test them as Mum made them.
The Prairie Home Companion would be played over the speakers loud enough that that was the only thing we could licten to. Garrison Keillor's destinctive voice softly speaking. The Vinyl Cafe kept us up to date with the upturnned lives of Dave and Morley. I've had fun listening to the TPHC, and Sunday night I'm going to try to tune into TVC at 5pm. I don't have the stuff to make pancakes, but I'll make due.
Ah, good times. Maybe next year I'll have pancakes for supper, just so I can make them listening to TVC, and TPHC.

Second Exam Today...

My exam on Monday actually went really well. There were good questions to answer, and I feel I answered them thoroughly. Today, I'm attempting my second exam, "Computing for Social Anthropologists". Not my best subject, but the exam instructs you to use 'outside material', so common sense will come in handy.
Wish me Luck!

Photos Finally Uploaded!

Okay, so it's only been 2.5 seconds since my last entry, but simply had to show you all these photos....

This is our surrogate dog. Muffin Clifton. Known affectionately in our house as "Petit Muffin". The day these photos were taken, Muffin had just had a wash, cut, and blow dry. (You can tell how angry she is with her Auntie-Margie for taking her there...right?)

On the same topic of surrogates, my surrogate Granny sent this to me for my birthday. Because I wasn't on campus for the whole of April plus, I didn't pick it up until today. This is particularity awesome, because I played the sax for 5 years in Highschool. Both my sisters did as well, so naturally I followed the tradition, and loved every second of it! Thanks for the great gift, Granny! (My glasses are there to give you an idea of the size.)

First Exam Today...

Today, as you may have guessed is my first exam. I have to sit for 3 hours, starting at 2pm, and write four essays in the subject of "Foundations of Human Culture". Freakishly enough...I'm kinda looking forward to it. Weird, maybe. But if I pass, then it will all have been worth it!
This weekend, as suggested by a few of my proffs, I didn't spend my whole time cramming. Instead, I watched
EuroVision. You can see the picture of the winners. Not your typical entry, but they were pretty good! On the BBC website you can see all the details of the song contest. I was lucky to get the live broadcast on my laptop. Ed and I enjoyed a big bowl of popcorn, and some cream soda to celebrate the occasion.
Well, wish me luck today...:S

Take care

School's Back for Summer...?

Hey y'all. The "summer term" has started, and no, this doesn't mean my summer vacation. I still have two weeks before that can happen. I arrived back on campus today after 5 hours on the road (thanks Daddy!) , and I'm getting settled back into life here on campus. The kitchen just as messy, the quad just as noisy, and my room is still the neatest in corridor ;).
My exams start on Monday, and continue until the 1st of June. For the first time ever I have an exam on a Saturday morning!!! Go figure!
I hope the sun has started to show itself in your part of the Globe.

Happy Mother's Day!

from fborfw.com May 13th, 2006

I think my mother can relate to this comic. Living across the pond from here grandkids, she's not able to see them every weekend, but me being her youngest (20 year old), I think she secretly harbours the occasional itch to be a Mum again, only temporarily though.
Ma, as long as your kids are with you...you are always a Mum! There are some things only you can solve, and only you can teach; you'll always be needed, appreciated, and always loved!
Happy Mother's Day, Ma!

The Vicarage Garden

One of the many assets the old house has is it's fantastic garden. Wrapping around 3/4 of the house, encompassing a pool, a greenhouse, cherry trees, apples trees, a fig tree, a wysteria, soft grasses, and a variety of wild flowers and animals, among other things. Most of the flora and fauna have been around some time, but the green house is a new addition. This is something my Mum has wanted for a while, and when one came up, we took it. The person who owned it, bought it in 1977, and never put it up! All the glass, the fittings and the contents were still there. The only thing we were up against, was the fact that we had no directions, or pictures.... Graham and Dorothy (my Godmother) came over to help us assemble it, and I doubt we could have without them. Thanks you two! (And Muffin) My Mum is outside, as I type, planting seeds in the greenhouse. Obviously, it's a good thing!
